All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Proteksi Tanaman Tropis are initially evaluated by the editorial team to assess their relevance to the journal’s scope, compliance with the author guidelines, scientific quality, and publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors or rejected before external review.
Manuscripts that pass the initial evaluation are reviewed by at least two reviewers using a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of the authors and reviewers are concealed. Reviewers assess the originality, scientific quality, methodology, clarity, and contribution of the manuscript to tropical plant protection.
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor may decide to accept the manuscript, request minor or major revisions, or reject it. When reviewer recommendations differ substantially, an additional reviewer may be invited. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned editor.
Authors submitting a revised manuscript should provide a response to the reviewers’ comments and clearly indicate the changes made. The journal aims to provide the first decision within approximately 2–3 weeks, although the review period may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.
Manuscripts may be rejected or withdrawn if serious ethical problems are identified, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, inappropriate authorship, or citation manipulation. After acceptance, the corresponding author will receive the proof for final checking before the article is scheduled for publication.
